Bailee had her first swim meet this Saturday ( Aug. 6th). She started swimming with the Snow College Blackhawk swim team only 3 weeks ago and so we were not sure about going to a swim meet already but she did so good and loved it. The meet was in Hurricane so we got up and left home about 10:30 a.m. to get there by 3:00 which was when warm ups started. We had been at Lagoon all day and got home really late from there on Friday night so she slept most the way to Hurricane. The meet lasted about 5 1/2 hours and she swam in 3 races,50 meter back stroke, 50 meter freestyle and 50 meter breast stroke. She did the best on the back stroke. We are used to swimming in an indoor pool all the time and this meet was at an outside pool so it was fun for her to swim outside (Not so fun for all us parents baking in the sun all day watching) It was nice when the sun finally went down. It was cool to swim in the dark with the pool lights on. Then about 9:30 p.m. we started the long drive home. Busy weekend but fun times!

She came in second place in her heat on the backstroke…this is her finishing and slapping the timers hand.
Starting the breast stroke… there is a funny story with this one…she jumped in the water and forgot that it was the breast stroke and she swam 2 strokes of freestyle before she realized it was the wrong stroke…she got disqualified for it so her time did not count but it was a learning experience and gave us a good laugh.
Her last race of the day…or should I say night. She swam her freestyle race in the dark…
It was a fun day and it was nice to get that fear of the first meet over with so now she knows what to expect and the rest of them can all just be fun. She loves to swim so this is fun for her to be part of a team and get to compete. We swim year round since our pool is inside so we will have meets all year. Here is to many more swim meets to come.
