Halloween 2011

Halloween was so fun this year. Bailee was Flo from the Progressive commercials and she was a hit. 

She went off trick or treating with her friends all night and  had a blast. It was nice to not have to take her this year. My baby is growing up.

Science Fair 2011

Science fair is a swear word in my house. I HATE it more than anything except History Fair...but Bailee had to do it for her grade. I got online and started looking for some project that we could buy and just do, like we did last year. Bailee through a fit and wanted to do something that she really wanted to learn about. Well, time passed and we still had no project until one day she came out of her room yelling that she knew what she wanted to research. She was supposed to be in her room doing homework but she was shining a flashlight around the room and it hit a CD and a rainbow appeared all around he room. Well she wanted to learn about how rainbows were made. So off to the internet she went and she read all about it. She did all the project herself which is a good thing because I would have not done as good a job.

This was her board. She was full of knowledge and talked the judges ears off.

In the end she won FIRST place for her grade and she was so happy. The first thing she said to me was " See mom, when you do a topic you are really interested in it pays off" I guess she told me...

Now lets hope she can be as interested in History Fair so I dont have to do much with that either. So proud of her good work.

80's day

For red ribbon week we had an 80's day and it was a blast. I had fun dressing Bailee up just like I used to dress.

Bailee and my friend Chelsea that works with me. She got all decked out too so I had to take her pic. I was going to get all dressed up too but I had to go to work at my other job after school and did not think that they would appreciate me dressed like that.

All in all it was a really fun day at school and needless to say we did not get much learning done.

New Cement

We took on a big project of replacing the bad cement that we had on our porch from when we built our house and also pouring our driveway that had never gotten poured when we built because it was the dead of winter. Our porches got poured in December when we built and they did not last well because they froze so we ripped up all that cement and did all new plus a driveway. I have waited so long for this to happen and it was so nice to see finally get done. Clint is off on Fridays so we would do a section each Friday and it took 4 pours to get done. We ran into the end of October before we got totally finished but did not dare do any more due to the colder weather coming so we will have some more to finish in the spring but then it will be complete. Yay!!!

It is amazing how something like cement can make me so happy.

 The porch being broke up. Clint did the whole thing with a sledge hammer and his muscle. no jack hammer here...until the other porch that we had to try and save part of so he got a jack hammer and did it so we did not ruin the metal that we were going to pour the new one on top of.

The cement truck showed up and it was like Christmas at my house...

We ended up finishing the first part of the porch in the dark due to very wet cement that was delivered to us. It took hours and hours for it to set up enough to finish. Very grateful for wonderful friends and family that stayed until 1 a.m. helping us with our cement that night.

Had to throw this in there so show just how wet it still was after dark. But that is my new front porch.

A few pours later we jump ahead to the driveway...this was so much cuter than this picture shows but that is my brother in law Mike and his little boy Teagon...Teagon had to help finish the cement just like his dad. He had knee pads on and everything and he went right to finishing...he was soooo cute.

End of year catch up...Labor Day 2011

I have been a horrible blogger the past few months and now that it is coming to the end of the year I realized that there is a lot that has happened that I am going to want in my printed blog book so I better catch up. So here goes the catch up posts...

Every year we go up to the sheep herd and have a family day on the mountain. This year it was just beautiful since we had such a late fall. We road horses, had yummy dutch oven and celebrated Aubree's birthday. We always have so much fun up there on this weekend. Love it up on the mountain.

Taylor Swift Concert

Warning: Long post with LOTS of pictures…

Wednesday night( Sept. 28,2011)  Bailee and I hit the Taylor Swift concert at the Energy Solution Arena. This has been a long time coming. Back when we heard she was coming it was around March. I tried and tried to get tickets for me and my friends to all take our kids. But tickets were not easy to get. I tried on two different pre sales and then the morning they went on to the public I was on right on time and there were none. Well then Easter rolls around and Grandpa Joe had a pair of tickets in her Easter Basket from him. She was soooo excited but then the long wait began. From March to September is a long time.  The night finally arrived and we were off… We stopped in at Grandpa Joes house and had dinner with all the family on our way and visited with them. Grandpa Joe was supposed to be taking her to this but he had back surgery and was not able to go. I have to admit I was not thrilled to be going but my opinion quickly changed.

The minute we got to our seats we knew it was going to be a good night. The seats were so amazing. We were so close we got so excited before it even started.

 

I could go on and on about how wonderful this show was but I will try to keep it as short as possible. She had a full Broadway production for every song. Complete with costume change, set change, fully choreographed dancers and everything. Each song was it’s own little musical. I have not seen anything like it for a very long time…since the old Reba shows that were a lot like this.

 

This tree came down from the ceiling right in front of us and she walked from the stage over to it and sang a few songs. It was so fun for her to be so close.

“Haunted” was my favorite as far as the production went. There were these giant bells and they had these acrobats on bungee  cords coming out of them on the ceiling doing all kinds of tricks. It was so cool…I felt like I was at Cirque De Soleil. They were doing tricks from the ceiling in lots of songs but this one was just all dark and had the coolest dance going on.

She got in this and flew all around the arena and she went right over the top of us…then all this confetti started blowing everywhere and the people dropped from the ceiling and it was quite the finale.

I had to take this picture…I was standing behind Bailee and this was her making her little heart to Taylor. So cute! She had so much fun and I had a blast too… I have seen a lot of concerts and this one was definitely up there at the top of the list. Taylor sure puts on a show like no one else.

First day of 5th grade

 

Today was the first day of school and Bailee is in 5th grade. Where has the time gone. I just always imagined that by the time I had one of those crazy 5th graders I would be old and ready for it. Well…Not so much. I don’t feel old and I realize now that I will never be ready for her to grow up. So ready or not here we are in the 5th grade. It was a great day and she still let her crazy mother take the camera to school and take her picture with her friends. Here are a few pics of the day…I am a little sad though because I always take a pic of me and her together since it is my first day of school too but today I forgot. Oh well!

 

I love that her cat “Sugar” decided that she needed to be in the picture too. She loves Bailee and so the minute we went outside there she as to climb in the picture. Then Bailee started playing with her and I got this cute pic of the two of them.

I love her shirt…it is so 80’s I felt like I should have been playing Flashdance music all morning as we were getting ready. I love these clothes these days, they take me back to my childhood. I am pretty sure I owned a shirt like this in 7th grade. ( you really cant get the full effect because I would not let her wear it off the shoulder like she wanted to )

Just had to giggle…

I just had to post this for journaling purposes…

Bailee had asked her dad to take her down to her grandmas and he told her he would take her as soon as he got out of the shower. Well she changed her mind and decided to ride her bike so instead of waiting for him to get out and talk to him she wrote him a note. Well… as we can see she could not find a piece of paper so she blew up a balloon and wrote a note on that…She placed the balloon on our bed where Clint would see it when he got out…He got a good laugh out of it and had to call me and tell me about it. I told him to save it so I could take a picture. What an imaginative kid…she makes us laugh!!!

Juab Demolition Derby

On August 13th Clint and I took Bailee and a couple of her friends to the derby in Nephi. Bailee loves demolition derby’s and so we made a family night out of it. We got there and it got started but after the first heat a bad storm started moving in and the wind was blowing so hard and the rain and lightning were a danger so they evacuated us all. We all had to go sit in our cars or in the exhibition building waiting it out. After almost an hour they made the announcement that they were going to try again. So we made our way to our seats again and enjoyed a very eventful derby. It is always exciting when dangerous things happen, and this derby was full of them.

The first heat after the rain delay this happened. Yes that is a car that rolled another car over and drove right up on to it. Everyone was ok…thankfully…

 

A few heats later…it happened again!!! The same guy rolled over another one and drove onto him…this time a fire started and it was a little more scary. But it ended ok… (the kid in the car underneath is the little brother of one of my co-workers so it was a bit scary knowing him…)

         

All in all it was a good time. With all the delays it made for a long night. We got home about 1:30 a.m. but Bailee and her friends loved every minute of it. The things us rednecks do for fun…good times indeed!!!!
